Sport has its own rules. Its disputes deserved their own process.
FAIR Sports exists because college and professional sports kept forcing highly specific conflicts, NIL disputes, coach-athlete breakdowns, revenue-share disagreements, through generic legal machinery that was never built to understand a locker room, a season, or a career clock.
Litigation wasn't builtfor a locker room.
Before FAIR, a program with a coach-athlete conflict or an athlete with an NIL dispute had two real options: escalate publicly, or say nothing. Neither protected the relationship, the season, or the people inside it.
The gap we saw
Courts and generic arbitration bodies are built for commercial disputes between strangers. Sports disputes are different: the parties usually have to keep working together, the clock is a season not a docket, and the wrong process can end a career or a program's reputation before the facts are even heard.
Meanwhile, the sport-specific bodies that did exist were narrow, built for one league, one governing body, or one type of claim, and inaccessible to the institutions, lawyers, and families who needed a process before a conflict, not after one had already become a headline.
What FAIR built instead
- A resolution process designed around the season clock, not the court calendar
- Neutrals who have actually been inside collegiate and professional sports, not generalists learning the terrain on the client's time
- A path that can be written into a contract before there is ever a dispute to resolve
- Three distinct tracks: Ombuds, Mediation, Arbitration, so the process matches the moment, not the other way around
Our mission is simple: give every institution, lawyer, and athlete in sport a way to define how a conflict gets resolved before that conflict defines them.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
Four commitments thatdon't change with the case.
Every service FAIR offers, Ombuds, Mediation, or Arbitration, is built on the same four ideas. They're not slogans; they're the reason institutions put FAIR in their contracts before they ever need it.
Define the process while things are calm: FAIR clauses go into contracts at no cost, so no one is improvising a response under pressure.
Our neutrals are former athletes, general counsel, and arbitrators who have sat inside NBA, NFL, and NCAA programs, not observers learning the sport from a file.
Most conflicts don't need a ruling; they need to be heard early, confidentially, and by someone who understands what's actually at stake.
When a binding decision is required, FAIR's five-step arbitration process delivers one, quickly, and without the eighteen-month wait of the courts.
FAIR's methodology goes deeper than any single service page: how we sequence Ombuds, Mediation, and Arbitration, and what makes each one different from generic litigation.
